In reverse seed order, the players first established the selection order. The seeds held and were as follows:

Nate Cockerill (1), David St. John (4) and John Gramila (5) all had to withdraw from the Royale for various reasons. The alternates were Don Glass (fourth alternate), Ben DiPaola (sixth alternate), and Brad Harrington (seventh alternate). Second alternate Mike Morrison had been scheduled to play but had to drop out the morning of the Royale because a tree had fallen on his car. |
