The 1st German Diplomacy Championship was the first tournament for StandardPress games that was played on the basis of play-by-e-mail games, regardless of whether a specific gaming community was part of the German-speaking region. The tournament was also the successor to the Ludomaniacs German Open (LuGO) from 2000.
Tournament period: February 12, 2001 to December 24, 2001 with a total of 143 participants. In 19 DM preliminary round games, the 42 best players qualified for 6 semi-finals. Last year's winner of the LuGO tournament Volker Schilling player entry in the Ludo database was automatically qualified for the DM semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals qualified for the DM final. All DM 2002 games were played until autumn 1906, with the exception of the final until autumn 1908. |
